MEET OUR CREW
The human engine that keeps the film reels turning.
The great thing about shooting a film like this is that it's a collaborative effort.
Every individual within the crew plays a vitally important part and every individual makes a difference.
On set,we are family.

DAVID ARMSTRONG -Director
David asks John if he can get NETFLIX on there…
David Armstrong has been mking films and music for longer than he cares o remember. His passion for both has given rise to a huge variety of projects: from producing critically acclaimed albums to award winning documentaries.
When he is not working on a project, Dave's hobbies include: writing, creating music and making films.
He is a strong believer that the Isle of Man is one of the best film-making locations in the world.

JEREMY THEOBALD - Producer/ 1st Asst Director
Jeremy keeps the SWAT team on standby…
An actor and producer and the catalyst who helped the director finally get this short film made. From his early days collaborating with Sir Christopher Nolan as lead actor and producer in Nolan's debut-feature, to the heady heights of maintaining a healthy blood pressure while in the role of first assistant director on set of this ambitious short.
Jeremy worked closely with David throughout the production and they are both actively promoting the Isle of Man as a film making destination.

JOHN CRAINE - Cinematographer
John works his on-set magic.. Half man, half camera.
John is a seasoned award winning cinematographer and was the director’s natural choice for this project. David and John have worked on several projects together over more than 15 years. Although John is a native to the Isle of Man, he is now London based, but loves shooting back “home” And the opportunity to film on the Calf of Man was just too good to miss.
John has worked in cinema and TV drama, documentary and has shot over 30 short films.

ANDY ORTON - Drone Cameras
Andy points to the sky, presumably at one of his drones…
The founder of DOT_Performance, Andy is also a highly skilled and technically brilliant drone pilot, capturing some of the most stunning and breathtaking images
for this short film.

Andy is seen here with Will Oates, a camera and experienced gimbal operator who works with Andy and his creative team.

VICKY HALSALL - Assistant Producer/Script Supervisor
Vicky gets a chance to show off her watchmaking skills.
Vicky was the logistics glue that held all the moving parts of this production together. More than an assistant producer, Vicky worked with the team on costume and set design as well as taking on the role of script supervisor.

Vicky is a creative powerhouse in her own right as a freelance artist and illustrator.

GEORGIA LEE QUILLIAM -1st Asst Camera
G remembers, I know more about the camera than John!
Georgia is one of the most diligent and competent camera assistants you could wish for - more than a safe pair of hands in very demanding locations.
Georgia’s focus work was especially challenging, as we were working in very tight , low light environments. (And with David and John…)

SCOTT WALKER - Sound Recordist
Scott's glad of the extra layers in the Isle of Man spring sunshine
A consummate professional, Scott worked in some very challenging and tight spaces with minimal fuss.
Scott has had many year’s experience on drama, factual and commercial shoots and it showed!

Also his experience shooting in the highlands helped him acclimatise to the Isle of Man's sub-tropical heatwave.

KATE SMITH-Make up artist
Kate and her brush work their magic.
Kate has worked in the film and media industry for over a decade and was the ideal choice, especially as we needed our hero, Birdie, to discover some authentic torture scars on the back of Hashim. So more than just a dab of powder then.
Kate's expert hands crafted part of our important back story.

JANE SMITH-Costume
Jane works hard on keeping our hero soaking wet…
Jane has been a fixture on Isle of Man film productions longer than she cares to remember. Making just the right choices for the look of our hero.
No time to rest while keeping tabs on a rapid-fire, costume-changing environment, especially as our hero, Birdie got more than a little wet, making continuity a nightmare.

MIKE WILSON- Underwater Camera & safety diver
Mike finds his missing pet jellyfish…
From software developer to content creator, Mike jumped at the chance to get the shots that we otherwise couldn’t get.

Usually cameras and water don’t mix, but Mike has invested in the latest water housing for his cameras and, with his In-depth knowledge about the waters around the Isle of Man, we knew he'd get those impossible shots.

JAMES MAGUIRE-Production Assiatant
James shares some expert acting techniques with our cast…
A film-maker in his own right, James wears many hats on a production. We needed more than an average production assistant who knew haw to get things done oin the Isle of Man. James was also instrumental in procuring one of our hero props - our flare gun.

JANE BURGESS-Catering
Jane listens to the satisfying sounds of a feeding frenzy.
Jane runs a fabulous cookery school in the Isle of Man and came to us highly recommended.
It doesn't matter how hard the shoot is, or how long is the day - a well fed crew is a happy crew and Jane provided some amazing culinary delights.
Not just the basics, but the naughty stuff too.

(Mmm savoury mufffin flashback!)

JON HONEY- Safety on Set
Jon keeps a close eye on everyone.
Health and safety are never taken for granted on a film set, and with decades of experience keeping people safe, Jon knows all too well that creatives can underplay the risks of any particular scene and location. Jon double-checked our risk assessments, and with a potentially very dangerous beach rescue scene, made sure everyone who went in the water, came out again safe and well.

There is no such thing as "getting the shot at all costs" - isn't that right, Jon?

ADAM PEARSE- Trainee
Adam smiles through the stress of life on a film set.
It is always gratifying to offer opportunities to young talented creatives on a short film shoot.

Although Adam is studying media at University College Isle of Man, nothing beats the hands on experience of working with a seasoned crew and cast..
